Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care Receives Special Consultative Status in the Prestigious United Nations: By the grace of Param Krupalu Dev Shrimad Rajchandraji and Pujya Gurudevshri, Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care has officially been granted the special consultative status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN-ECOSOC) as of 2020. With this honour, Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care joins a very exclusive list of carefully selected NGOs that are officially affiliated with the United Nations. Consultative status enables Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care to actively engage with the ECOSOC and its subsidiary bodies, as well as with the United Nations Secretariat, programmes, funds and agencies in a number of ways. Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care’s spectrum of services are also in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as laid down by the United Nations. Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care Opens New Wing at St. George Hospital, Mumbai: On the occasion of Pujya Gurudevshri’s Birth Anniversary, Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care, supported by the Gem & Jewellery National Relief Foundation (GJNRF), helped open a special new ICU-wing in St. George Hospital, Mumbai. St. George Hospital is one of the critical care COVID-19 hospitals in Mumbai, and has been operating at full capacity since the past few months. The new wing is fully equipped and specially designed to increase the number of beds in the hospital. This facility will greatly boost the infrastructure of the 342-year-old colonial structure! The award recognised the remarkable impact of Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care’s ongoing global coronavirus relief initiatives providing holistic support to affected communities, frontline professionals and animals. 21-Year-Old Meera Mehta Receives The Diana Award: 21-year-old Meera Mehta was the recipient of the prestigious ‘The Diana Award’ from UK for her Fundraising & Volunteering Work with Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care. The Diana Award, named after Princess Diana, the Princess of Wales, is one of the most esteemed accolades a young individual from age 9 to 25 years can receive for his/her social service or humanitarian work. Amidst the pandemic, Meera raised funds to support vulnerable communities. She was also instrumental in sponsoring two buses for migrant workers to return to their hometown in Bihar. Launch of “The Circle of Love and Care” in Australia: The Sydney Raj Parivar launched a free food service, named “The Circle of Love and Care.” In this community initiative, volunteers will provide 3-course Jain meals to the homeless and needy, feeding approximately 50 people every Saturday. In addition, on the occasion of Pujya Gurudevshri’s 54th Birth Anniversary, 540 food hampers consisting of protein bars, biscuits, juices, were distributed to 540 residents of aged-care homes in Sydney. USA Volunteers Launch “Back to School Supply” Drive: SRLC USA launched a special stationery distribution drive for the month of September. This ‘Back To School’ Supply Drive was aimed at helping the thousands of students from low socio-economic backgrounds to gain access to basic learning tools during these trying times. Supplies included spiral notebooks, markers, headphones, chargers, backpacks, face masks and other useful items. Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital Partners with Harvard University: Recently, Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital undertook a partnership with Harvard University in America, for a project to tackle the rampant problem of malnutrition, which is extremely prevalent in a developing country like India, and even more so, in the tribal belt of South Gujarat. Expert researchers and academicians from Harvard University visited Dharampur as part of this collaboration and were very impressed with the 360-degree medical care being offered at Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital, including the medical outreach programme that provides medical care at the doorstep of families living in remote rural villages. Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital and Purdue University Win First Prize in Health Competition in the USA: Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital along with researchers from Purdue University took first position in a US-based research competition known as the National Institute of Health (NIH) Accelerator Challenge. The software developed by the team enables the medical staff to take a picture of a patient’s inner eyelid with a smartphone and instantly receive a near-accurate count of haemoglobin. In the remote villages that are served, over 50% women and over 58% of children are malnourished. As this technology involves taking a picture on a smartphone, it is completely non-invasive and rapid. Hence, Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital will be able to cover a large segment of this population and treat them in time. The first position placement, makes the project eligible for a substantial research grant. Moreover, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is cooperating with the NIH to consider additional support to the award winners and are connecting with us as we deploy this exciting project.
