Shrimad Rajchandra Vidyapeeth Students Shine at a Science Symposium A science symposium is an event that creates a deeper understanding and excitement for science, engineering, and the environment through a project and place-based community approach to education. An International E-Science Symposium was organised by Christ College, Rajkot and sponsored by Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission on ‘Recent Trends in Science and Technology’. The event witnessed two international speakers give a plenary talk on human microbiome and biomolecular engineering. The main purpose of this event was to bring awareness about recent developments in Science and Technology and participants included science students, research scholars, delegates from academia and industry. Shrimad Rajchandra Vidyapeeth student Aayushi Panwala made an oral presentation on the topic of ‘Screening of Indian herbs for binding efficacy towards COVID-19 spike protein, an in-silico approach’ for which she won the 1st prize. Students Gayatri Bisht and Kajal Bhoya also made a joint oral presentation on ‘Comparative analysis on cultivation method and growth performance of pink oyster mushroom using different substrates’ and were the runners-up at the symposium. These winning presentations by the students of Shrimad Rajchandra Vidyapeeth were based on their research carried out at the college’s Department of Microbiology under the guidance of Dr. Dehin Bhagat and Dr. Kruti Parmar. The research was scrutinised by a team of researchers and only thereafter the students were selected to participate in the event. Shrimad Rajchandra Vidyapeeth is ensuring that students from rural areas are provided with the right guidance and opportunities to uncover their potential.
