‘Yugpurush’ Drama Wins 3 Prestigious Awards

Shrimad Rajchandraji was a spiritual luminary, an enlightened being whose exemplary internal and external life is an ideal to emulate for thousands of seekers across the globe. Commemorating Shrimadji’s 150th Birth Anniversary a theatrical presentation named ‘Yugpurush – Mahatma na Mahatma’ was launched amidst great fanfare by Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur on the auspicious day of Kartik Purnima 2016. In its short but momentous journey the play has already staged 200 shows in a short span of only around 108 days, in many cities to a varied audience. Astounding all with its apt portrayal of the real life experiences of the Father of the Indian Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and Shrimad Rajchandraji, the drama has received rave reviews in print and social media.

The drama beautifully portrays the profound effect that the association with Shrimad Rajchandraji brought in Gandhiji’s transition from ‘Mohandas’ to ‘Mahatma’. Infact Gandhiji refers to Shrimadji as his spiritual mentor, a ‘refuge’ in times of moral crisis and credits Shrimadji’s inspiring guidance to the development of his most efficient tools of ‘Satya’ and ‘Ahimsa’ in India’s struggle for independence.

As the legacies of Shrimadji and Gandhiji continue to offer new paradigms to global peace and harmony, the play’s sterling star cast and smooth presentation have also received widespread critical acclaim. By the grace of Shrimad Rajchandraji and Pujya Gurudevshri, the drama ‘Yugpurush – Mahatma na Mahatma’ bagged 3 prestigious awards at the 16th Annual Transmedia Gujarati Screen and Stage Awards 2016. Winning awards for Best Drama (Mumbai), Best Director – Mr. Rajesh Joshi and Best Supporting Actor – Pulkit Solanki, it enthusiastically continues to enlighten the masses about the Mahatma behind the Mahatma.

When this joyous announcement was made in Dharampur during the shibir, it was serenaded with jubiliant celebrations. Devotees were on their feet dancing in ecstasy as Param Krupalu Dev Shrimad Rajchandraji’s glory reverberated far and wide. Short clips from the award ceremony were screened for the benefit of all present. Young children gathered and offered their reverence to Param Krupalu Dev by encircling around His pious idol. Seekers initiated an elated jaikar that defined the evening’s devotional atmosphere and lifted the spirits of all present.
